For any of our wearable items, including the wristlets and lanyards, we use 100% cotton unless a customer specifically requests otherwise. It costs more than acrylic, and we think it is worth it.
Cotton holds its shape
Cotton does not stretch out over time. That matters most for a wristlet, because the weight of your keys pulls on it every single day. A cotton wristlet will be just as functional four years from now as it is on day one.
Kinder to skin, and to heat
Cotton is hypoallergenic, which makes it a better choice for sensitive skin and for anyone dealing with eczema. And unlike acrylic, which can melt under high heat, cotton is heat resistant, so you can wash it in hot water without worrying about the stitches.

For something you wear against your skin every day, the trade is an easy one.
Acrylic is easy to wash, but it traps oil-based body odor over time. Cotton may hold a stain a little more stubbornly, and the odors wash right out. If you would like a different fiber for a custom piece, just ask and we will talk through the trade-offs with you.
